Yet another debate

I tuned in for a bit but couldn’t stand listening to Romney. The real Reagan was insufferable enough, but this shitty robot imitation of Reagan is just maddening.

UPDATE: Actually, I tuned back in and watched. And followed it on Twitter. And later checked the highlights for what I’d missed (though I still haven’t seen all of it.)

And it turns out that I can retire from blogging, because Charles Pierce at Esquire has stolen my brain: America Has Now Met the Many Romneys, and America Knows They Can Get Their Asses Kicked: At the Debate. Fantastic post, and I think I agree with every word of it.

In other news: the collective noun for a group of women is “binder.” A pride of lions, a flock of geese, a herd of deer, a binder of women.

Yes, i hear you. I couldnt watch the whole thng myself and tuned out, then in and out again. The debates on thewhole were awful. Does anyone who watched all three of them feel better informed about anything at all?

My local state elections are the one things keeping interested in this election cycle. For the first time in my llifetime my vote may matter a bit!! We have two tight races to decide: the first being the tight contest between warren and brown. The second is an even tighter horserace
Between a pro choice gay republican man and a “democrat for life” crook of a democrat congressman.

What fun!! Being from massachusetts its so rare to have real choices!!

PS: sorry my comment is so wonky. Im tapping it out on a tablet which will not behave.

Have we had all three debates already? Good. That’s one less bit of drivel on the web I have to spend time avoiding.

I admire the fortitude of those who watch those things so I don’t have to. I admire it a lot. I mean, binders?

Dr. Socks, are you sure you want to retire and cede blogging to Charles P. Pierce? Dude has a few issues.

    quixote,

Alas, there is one more to go. The three debates I mentioned included the VP Dog and Pony show.

I used to be such a political junkie but I’ve lost all interest in Presidential debates. I’m old enough to remember when they had a bit of substance (when they were run by The League of Women Voters). Now that the parties have taken over the rules and guidelines, they are all about zingers and gotchas and who the audience wants to go have a beer with. I’d say they are all about style over substance but they have no style. I was actually embarrassed FOR the candidates when I checked in on the last debate. They both looked so awkward and uncomfortable and their answers were so canned. Ugh.

I must say, I don’t understand that piece from VastLeft at all.

Pierce’s essay is brutal on Obama. About a third of it is spent on Obama as murderer, Obama as enabler of torture, Obama as Bush III, etc. (This essay is the one I mean. The blurb the copy editor added doesn’t make much sense.)
