In honor of Robin Gibb’s recovery from his coma

It’s the Barry Gibb Talk Show:

Earlier this week, I told my mother about the news report that Barry Gibb was at Robin’s bedside, singing to his comatose brother in an attempt to bring him around. We both instantly flashed on the Barry Gibb Talk Show, though of course we didn’t actually laugh.

“Robin…look at me…I’m your brother…Aaaah”

I’m very glad for Robin’s recovery and hope that he continues to improve. My best wishes to him and Barry and the entire Gibb clan. No disrespect. And to prove it, here’s the real Brothers Gibb on Midnight Special in 1975 (and I swear to god, I actually remember watching this at the time, sprawled out on the shag rug in front of our console TV):

Well, the BeeGees were rather cheesy, and therefore a perfect segment of 70s culture. So I say, it’s okay to laugh.

AND I hope he recovers fully, also.

PS Check out the AWESOME crease on the slacks of the Brother Gibb in the center.

Isn’t that what pants are supposed to look like?

  4. tinfoilhattie says:

    Those aren’t “pants,” they’re “slacks.” Double-knit, even.

I’ve always wondered what the difference is between pants and slacks. Thanks, Tinfoilhattie.

Midnight Special. Awesome. I often think that would be a fun show to own on dvd.

Barry looks so much like Andy. Hard to believe he’s been dead 24 years. And poor Maurice.

  7. tinfoilhattie says:

But I’m still stumped, I fear. Where do “trousers” fit in?

  8. Violet Socks says:

Chrisvee, Barry was always the looker. Very handsome man. Robin was delightfully weird. I was fascinated by the way he would hold his ear when he sang, since I did the same thing.

All slacks (loose-fitting pants) are pants, but not all pants are slacks.

Unless we’re in the U.K., where they’re all trousers and the word pants means underwear. I’m not sure the Brits even use the word slacks.

I secretly love ALL the BeeGees. I have some of their old, pre-disco stuff, and I love it!

I remember when the BeeGees first hit the air waves, they sounded very much like the Beatles. That didn’t last long. Then Disco hit and they were perfect for the times.
