Naomi Wolf to serve as new spokesmodel for Ladies Against Feminism

By · Wednesday, December 8th, 2010 · 21 Comments »

The latest from Naomi The Idiot: a pro-rape anti-woman post from hell that makes her prior essays in favor of hijab and Jesus look like Valerie Fucking Solanas. Anglofille has an excellent post on the subject which I highly recommend: Wikileaks and Rape.

UPDATE: Also read What We Talk About When We Talk About Rape, in which Jaclyn Friedman explains exactly what the problem is. An excerpt:

Had the backlash against Assange’s arrest focused on Interpol’s hypocrisy, my colleagues and I would have been free to join and strengthen that critique. But it didn’t. Instead, Keith Olbermann used scare quotes around the word rape as though the charges themselves (which are that Assange held one woman down against her will, and in a separate incident raped another while she was sleeping) were silly, and everyone from Glenn Beck to Naomi Wolf rushed to belittle the accusers, along the way employing every victim-blaming, rape-denying, slut-shaming trope ever invented, from “they’re just lashing out because they got their feelings hurt” (that’s both Beck and purported feminist Wolf, paraphrased) to my personal non-favorite, popular blogger Robert Stacy McCain’s suggestion that women who consent to any kind of sex are sluts who deserve whatever happens: “You buy the ticket, you take the ride.”

Sadly, but no surprise, feminist blogs seem to be the only ones able to distinguish between “Assange the alleged rapist” and “Assange the founder of Wikileaks”.

They also seem to be the only ones able to distinguish between verified facts and sensational gossip !

  2. tinfoil hattie says:

Only two or three comments on the Wolf piece mention the fact that removing a condom in one case and “having sex” with a woman while she’s asleep are forms of sexual assault. The rest of the comments denigrate the women, of course.

    I hate the world.

Talking about facts: Statement from the Swedish Director of Prosecution.

And … the Prosecution Authority’s website has been under attack and made unable to get into. Well, well now, who would want to suppress the truth?

Shorter Naomi Wolfe: @SSange is totally hot, so no way could any woman object to anything he does.

Why Barack Obama Got My Vote
     . . .
She and her husband really know how to run a country; they delivered eight years of peace and prosperity. I know her to be a skilled politician and motivated by sincere love of country. Mrs. Clinton would be a terrific executive — in a stable democracy. But that is not enough right now. These are times that should try men’s souls — and women’s also. In a closing society, a leader has to be willing to face down evil, engage it and call it by its name:

    Anyway, the man is a feminist . . . ?

… I love the logical fallacy behind all those conspiration theories. Just because e.g. the US would profit from having these charges prosecuted above what is usual (would be nice if rape charges were regularly prosecuted with such vigor), doesn’t automaticly mean they are FALSE. After all, the best smear campaign is the one using real dirt.

I also wish people would recognise that you can do good in one aspect of your life, and yet be a scumback in the other.

  7. Ciccina says:

Wow. Wolf is really pond scum. Which we knew already, but still. Can you get any lower than a snake’s belly? I think she’s trying to find out.

The notion that the Swedish prosecutor would pursue an arrest based on the charges stated by Wolf is ludicrous.

Wolf’s version of what happened only sounds plausible if you already believe that police readily arrest men on the basis of a woman’s “hurt feelings.”

    What an awful person.

Longtime feminist activist??? She has the gall to call herself a longtime feminist activist? Good grief and people get all apoplectic when Sarah Palin calls herself a conservative feminist. Isn’t there some way we can get Naomi Wolf to stop making that claim? (Class action, anyone?) She seems to think it’s her personal backstage pass to the patriarchy palace where she can stomp on feminist ideals, in glass slippers natch, with wild abandon. Can somebody put a sock in that woman’s mouth… please, pretty please?

Rape is the only crime that puts the victim on trial and she is presumed guilty until proven innocent. Naomi, girlfriend, I may not have passed Feminism 101 but even I had that one figured out by the age of 13. The question these defenders of Assange should be asking is not why Assange? but why not?

I was thinking ,, when J.A. was suggesting that Hillary resign , how characteristic of an abuser to pick on the woman , and when did he not suggest B.O. resign , as well, just, Hillary .
My son, who was in the service, thinks he deserves a blindfold and a cigarette.

  10. kiuku says:

I like Assange and I hope he’s not a rapist. But I wouldn’t skip to his, or any man’s defense blindly on the rape charges; why are women willing to do this; it’s disgustingly dismissive; the letter. Enough of this.

  11. Adrienne in CA says:

Wonder if the Obama fan base will be so quick to defend Assange when they read this.

“Obama must answer what he knew about this illegal order and when. If he refuses to answer or there is evidence he approved of these actions, he must resign,” [Assange] added during an Internet chat interview published online.”

That’s if anyone’s seen those comments…I had to go hunting for them.

  12. Briar says:

Since Obama is busy persecuting Assange, and is getting his government to lean on any relevant corporations and bodies to increase the pressure, I would suppose Obama’s witless fan base is delighted to see the Wikileaker in prison. The Emperor cannot be embarrassed – those who reveal the empire and its rulers have no clothes must be punished. By the way, just because I am a feminist, I don’t automatically believe every woman is a rape victim. In fact I object to characterisations of women that assume they are always the victim. Women are tough, canny fighters. They can also choose to fight in evil causes. The women in question here seem, by their own words and actions, to be the opposite of victims.

  13. tinfoil hattie says:

I don’t automatically believe every woman is a rape victim.

That’s not at all the point, but nice pile of straw you’ve flung. The point is that a vast majority of people believe that the vast majority of women lie about having been raped. And that even if they’re not lying, they’re probably sluts, cunts, bitches, and/or whores.

  14. Violet Socks says:

Briar, do you have any idea what you’re talking about? Because nobody else does.

  15. Sameol says:

I think that makes loads of sense. The question isn’t really what woman would care enough about the release of documents that are getting little traction in the media and that most people don’t really seem to care about very much to expose herself to not only the mud-dragging, reputation-destroying hell that accompanies any public accusation of sexual assault, but also the added joy of death threats and unmeasurable outrage that accompanies any accusation against a prominent man with a built-in howling misogynist fan club. The question is what woman WOULDN’T care enough? A vanishingly small minority. The queues outside Giant Shadowy Conspiracy HQ are large enough to be seen from space.

  16. Nessum says:

Both the Swedish Prosecution Authority and the lawyer representing the two women have had their websites attacked (made unaccessible) by Assange-fans. Silly me – thought they fought for openness!
    http://www.thelocal.se/30698/20101208/

The latter, troubled by this attack, says:

My first thoughts are with my clients who are two women who have been drawn in to some sort of global political event which they have nothing to do with whatsoever. And now their attorney has been subject to an attack. It’s totally insane and I’m deeply troubled by it.

And it certainly doesn’t help the women’s case, when the US SoD Gates expresses satisfaction hearing about the arrest of Assange! Don’t tell me he cares about the rape charges!

About the rumours of a US connection the attorney says:

I’m disappointed at how easily false rumours can take on such proportions and consequences. Julian Assange is primarily responsible for this development. He could have denied the rumours but he hasn’t; rather, he’d done the opposite.

And of course the female prosecutors involved in the case have been fiercely attacked by Assange’s male lawyers.

I can’t imagine what the latest three months have been like for these two women. Hell, I presume.

Violet, I can always count on you! I haven’t read a feminist perspective on this anywhere, I just keep swearing at the radio and turning it off as I hear so many ‘intellectuals’ like Ken Loach and Jon Pilzer supporting him. Well…they’re men. If Assange raped he must pay. I refuse to believe he is innocent just because he does good work.

If men rape 480 women a day, then many men are rapists. Nice men, smart men, leftist men. Rape is not ‘sexual misconduct’, as I’ve heard it spoken by these leftist intellectuals, it is a crime against humanity.

  21. Donna says:

Willemina, it doesn’t sound like the first lefty dood linked gets it at all: “All the bits about Miss A sound like they could be covered under “bad relationship.” But Miss W may have a case, at least morally, if not legally.”
