Yes, indeed. I’m here. (Don’t tell anyone else, but the Reclusive folk are welcome to visit.)

Looks like my brain after I set up a new computer today. Nice picture but I am jonesing for some political rantings from Violet. I tuned out of politics for a month or so and woke up to find the face of the opposition was two women. Enjoy your happy place though it’s Spring.

I had a bumper blooming of daffydills this year and I’m patiently waiting for my lilacs to come in and fill the house with the best smell on Earth. Oh can the garden tomatoes be too far behind?

You didn’t by any chance leave Raul home alone, did you?

Me, after I got my energy efficient room A/C installed in my living room yesterday, suffering only one cut that I had to bandage and four slippery tiny screws that kept jumping out of my hand and onto the floor- meaning 4 bouts of curse words turning the air blue. But in 15 minutes it was in place and I celebrated.

My central air conditioner died last May (and would have cost at least 3,000 to replace- I don’t have that kind of money, to spend on an replacement A/C) After suffering through a Kentucky June with only my seven fans though, I broke down and bought an energy efficient 8000 BTU room A/C for my bedroom. (that one took over a half hour to install in stifling July heat and humidity- there was lots and lots of cursing and I had to stop to bandage something about 3 times. Heh. After it was installing and the room cooled down to comfortable, you bet I celebrated!)

I was promptly stunned that my energy bill dropped from an average of $285 a month during summer with central air to $65 with the bedroom A/C and seven fans for the rest of the house.

Of course the rest of the house was barely tolerable at night and not during the day at all, so this year I decided to get one for the living room.

Unfortunately, due to the tiny windows (I have the big picture window flanked by narrow windows type living room- I hate picture windows. If I could afford it I’d get it taken out and replaced with a bay window- I love bay windows) I could only get a 5000 BTU.

It’s nowhere near enough to cool the room properly (If I bought a second one for the other tiny window it might be, but I’m hoping I won’t have to) but I figured it will drop it somewhat near the A/C and with the ceiling fan and the two powerful room fans I used last year it should drop it into the tolerable range during the daylight hours that I’m home, and maybe even into the comfortable range after sundown, and not up my electric bill that much.

Now, hopefully, just the kitchen (I have a natural gas powered stove) and most of the dining room will be unbearable during the day.

Ciardha, what a great idea… I’ve often cursed that if I can just SLEEP in cool comfort, I would be happy! You may have just given me the means for me to reduce my summertime-average $220+ electric bills - & feel less guilty environmentally speaking ;-)

  12. SYD says:

Wait. Are you holding a piglet in your right arm?

    Is it wearing any lipstick?

  13. Swannie says:

Does anyone else see the cosmic conductor with her arm raised ; on the lower right, conducting the celestial symphony?

Violet, I had no idea you were a celestial symphony conductor … what a nice surprise …..

  14. Cyn says:

Swannie, I see it but, to me, it looks like a giant middle finger.

  15. Violet Socks says:

Cool. From now on I’m just gonna post cloud pictures on the blog.

  16. Swannie says:

OK CYN , now it is the GREAT SOW GODDESS giving BO the cosmic finger …thanks I like it ;) !!!
