It will never stop snowing
Just thought I’d say that.
Meanwhile, the White House press secretary is writing things on his hand and President Obama is holding campfire sing-alongs with Republicans. Leadership!

I’ve been thinking a lot about the timeliness of the release of the remake of George Romero’s “The Crazies.” I’m sure the remake is denuded of the original’s socio-political critique, but it still seems terribly apt… portrait of a downwardly spiraling melee between suffering, increasingly irrational ordinary people and a government that has little interest in solving the problem it created, preferring instead to make it “go away”… Its so au courant.
Been indoors too long? Me? Why do you ask?

The first rule of PR is “No publicity is bad publicity.” You’d think someone on Obama’s team would know that. And when the White House is engaging in the kind of back and forth you expect of reality TV stars, it just makes Palin look all the more sympathetic. You’d think they’d know that, too. Idiot-assholes.
Or maybe they want Palin in 2012. Obama is a rightwinger, afterall. It also seems to me he felt his job was done on inauguration day so I don’t believe he cares about a second term, even for his ego. He’s already been crowned king, reached the top, etc. Even if he fails miserably, he’s still been a POTUS, which was his goal (not governing).

Yesterday, I happened to watch on TV the excellent 1976′s movie “Network,” with one of the main actors, Peter Finch, screaming the famous “I am mad as hell and I am not gonna take it any more.”
As the movie character was able to ignite and channel people’s anger and frustration about the state of affairs, he would become famous and had millions of followers. What was true back in 1976, in the aftermath of Watergate and the Vietnam war, recession, inflation, etc., it is also true today. I am getting angry already.

Obama doesn’t even take a pee without consulting with his 4 Chicago maffiosos, who apparently got so hooked to the high of their election victory and how good” they ran their campaign, that governing has proved to be….well, boring, not fun, not the adrelanine or dopamine rush any more, you know?
Hey, they thought that they could delegate the hard work to the workhorses, the peasants in Congress, cabinet members, who would then take the blame for all the failures. So, they insist on having fun…mocking Sarah Palin, blah, blah, playing golf, talking B.S., dithering, and drinking beers with the cool Prez and his wife. And may be the boss is already writing another memoir.

I love old movies. Especially since the advent of Netflix. I’m talking real oldies. Black and white. The ’30s and ’40s. Surprisingly feminism runs through those movies more than anything you see today. Even I would have been scared of Barbara Stanwyck in her prime. I prepared for the snow. I got the last of the diet coke and ho hos from the store yesterday and I’m about to put in the DVD of Indiscretion of an American Wife with Jennifer Jones and Montgomery Clift.

An old film I saw recently that reminded me of Obama’s fiscal policy was “Separate Tables” where a former socialist politician threatens little old ladies in a hotel that he will find their savings accounts & tax them out of existence.

Funny. That isn’t how I remember Separate Tables. Or even Obama’s proposed health insurance company bail-out.

monchichi — yes, those ones with Stanwyck and Kay Francis are awesome!

School has been closed since Wednesday because of the snownami. Since Monday is Presidents’ day, the kids actually have a 6 day break.
The last time I remember us having this much snow was Jan 96.
