Snowed in!
Several inches of snow arrived at the Smoking Lounge today, as you can see from the above photo. By the way, this is a rare opportunity for you all to see Raoul in his ectoplasm form, albeit covered in snow. See those two snow drift shapes in the chairs? That’s actually Raoul and Nietzsche in spirit form, coated with a light dusting of precipitation.
Meanwhile, I’m still head down with the website I’m putting together. I did note with great hilarity that the President used his State of the Union address to reach out to Republicans. Remember what I said about Che Guevara? Yeah.
I think it’s definitely time for a serious confab on third-party politics. As soon as I get past this website thingy I’m doing I’ll be able to re-focus my white-hot laser-like beam of attention on the situation. There’s the Justice Party, and Mr. Jeff Roby has a very interesting approach he’s calling Full Court Press. I definitely like the tactical idea of running a challenger in every single district — that’ll get their attention.
So, what else is going on out there?

That’s some crazy weather, Vi - we’ve had a really mild winter up here in Oregon. Just last week I went for a run in a t-shirt and I was just fine. It’s been in the 40s-50s most of January. (Of course every time it drops below 35 my neo-con step dad blusters “Where’s that Global Warming they keep talking about, hurr hurr durr.” ARRRRGH.)

We got about 4 inches here at my home (in Kentucky- and it is an “oldish” one too, heh.). Thankfully, I didn’t have to go into work today so after clearing off my car and shoveling the sidewalk and the driveway I could spend the rest of the day enjoying the view out my windows.
I definitely think we should go forward with the Justice party.
A person at the Confluence found a place where you can read Hillary’s 1969 thesis for free. Interesting to read how Hillary viewed the world as a 21 year old in those pretty turbulent times.

Violet, I can see plainly from the picture of the deck of the Smoking Lounge that you are living right. Cheers!

Scott Brown’s campaign contributors are just like everyone else’s campaign contributors. So much for change. . .

And here in New York, we got a little flurry - a squall, if you will. Totally bizarre!
I personally thought Obama channelled his Beloved Daddy, Raygun, in the SOTU. Cutting taxes, controlling the deficit by cutting social programs, misstating the state of the economy…that’s Our President all right. Sheesh.
I sure hope you and Jeff can work together, Violet. I think it could be a very exciting combination.
(giant happy grin)

We here in Canada have been looking south with a curious eye. The Toronto area’s had but a mere sprinkling - though it’s cold - whilst my friend in Tennessee has been dumped on like she lives in the snow belt.
