Is anybody planning to watch the speech? I would, but I’m too busy with this website thingy I’m trying to get launched. Somebody told me on the phone that Sarah Palin is attacking NOW for their stance on unborn football players, but I don’t even have time to go look it up.

Sweetie wants to watch. I’d rather have my eyes gouged out with red hot pokers. Not sure if I can watch without going ballistic, and Sweetie hates all the yelling and stuff, and I would scare the dogs and cats in the bargain.

Well, to be fair, so was Bruce Dixon. He’s never been on the Obama Love Train. (Ohhh was that racist?) Dixon, like me, voted for Cynthia McKinney in the GE–and supported her in the primary as well.
I was gobsmacked at the line that Obama is “calling for a jobs bill tonight.” Really? You mean you took office without having one in mind? You mean you’re JUST NOW realizing that jobs are kinda like a major f’ing priority?
As I said on another site, that evoked the Tim Gunn in me: “This worries me.”

Bruce Dixon is one of the most perceptive Obama critics out there, and has been for years (following him in Chicago). You ought to try finding out who people are before you make snide remarks.

Speaking of Guns for Pentaqgon, since it’s pretty obvious that we are never ever ever going to cut military spending, does anyone know if the DoD buys American? Do we manufacture our own bullets and guns and warheads, or do we buy even that from China?

Most weapons and weapons systems are domestically produced. The US is the largest arms exporter on the planet (China is number 12).

A lot of the electronics in US weapons are produced in China, though, not to mention a lot of other stuff we depend on that’s no longer produced domestically, even food. If China suddenly stopped shipping, or lending, they could make life here very difficult for a while.
