Calling Beck a scumbag is an insult to bags of scum.

Amazing! Just went to your place and saw you put up a post just like mine, with h/t to TGW. I’m very alarmed that you and I should be thinking the same. Is clown makeup next?

Curious- why didn’t people hate Glenn when he was on Headline news? He hasn’t changed in the past 3.5 years, just his network has.
It’s so 5 minutes ago to hate Hannity, Limbagh, so on and so forth, it’s now cool to hate Beck.
My next questions is- how many people that hate Beck have actually watched something of his beyond You Tube clips?

And big shoes.

I quit watching the bloviating gasbags on television over a decade ago. There’s not one of them worth watching on any network or cable channel.
I don’t need to keep sniffing turds on my lawn to know that dog sh*t stinks.

I’ve been watching Beck. I’ve always been fascinated with the McCarthy years, and now that we seem to be trying to relive them, watching Beck gives me a front row seat.

I like Beck only because I like the show he puts on. His craziness and the craziness he inspires in others. Especially the craziness he inspires in others. Watching people foam at the mouth is always entertaining.

I think Obama’s bosses are the wealthy corporations that put him into office and that he has been bailing out. If Jones is the progressive that many people seem to believe he is, than he had to go. Wouldn’t surprise me if Beck was simply used as the tool.

I couldn’t finish watching that clip — sorry. When he started mocking Hillary with that disgusting “bedroom” voice … ugh ugh ugh.

Glenn Beck.
Van Jones.
Both tools. Different toolboxes.
Neither of them should be “bossing” or advising our President.

We have to choose where get our news.. from the media equivalents of Pee Wee Herman (MSNBC) , Carrot Top (FOX), and Foster Brooks (CNN ).
Lately they have all been complaining about the internet and lies and misinformation online … HA HA HA HA HAHAHA ..The glut of hypocrisy, lack of factual reporting , the ever so slanted presentations… the O-team being glued to the news cycles 24/7 have all helped. Glenn didn’t do this all by his little ole self , he doesn’t get all the credit.

Van Jones said about Israel in an album he produced for the Ella Baker center:
“The right of return of the Palestinian people. These are critical dividing lines in human rights. We have to be here. No American would put up with an Israeli-style occupation of their hometown for 53 days let alone 54 years.”
Beck or no Beck, once this was revealed, not just conservatives would have had issues with Jones continuing in the administration. My hardcore liberal (Jewish) dad was appalled to hear about this.

Swannie says:
Violet I love ya, but I have to disagree on this one ..
Remember when VAN JONES accused Bill Clinton of WAGGING THE DOG ?http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/…..N81729.DTL
from 1998 when Clinton was trying to run down Osama Bin Laden VAN JONES said ..
“This is using dead Third World bodies to cover up his own unzipped pants,” declared Van Jones, director of Bay Area PoliceWatch, an organization that until now has focused on alleged misconduct by law enforcement officers. Jones spoke at a demonstration at Powell and Market streets in San Francisco that drew 400 people, according to police estimates. ”
The theme that Clinton took military action to distract public attention from the Monica Lewinsky affair was highlighted in a protester’s sign in Palo Alto that read, “Don’t let a wartime incursion be Clinton’s diversion.”
(Of course) There was scant mention in any of the demonstrations about the events that precipitated Clinton’s action: the terrorist bombs that exploded at the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania on August 7 that killed 251 Africans and 12 Americans.
sorry..he gets .. no sympathy from me…. of course , I do agree that bo is spineless … completely
This comment was downstairs but hit moderation for having two links so I took one out , and as for the JEWISH SOLUTION I knew more would come out about Van Jones , I just had that feeling when he was thrown under the bus so fast . There is probably more yet..

“Obama’s Boss” really nails it. It’s inconceivable that Hillary–or any real Democrat–would be so craven.
How odd that O-holes seem willing to do anything to hurt their fellow Democrats, but would never touch a hair on a Republican’s head.

Jones’ job didn’t have anything to do with US policy towards Isreal. And he’s only a midlevel employee. If no controversial or unpopular opinions on any subject is going to be a litmus test for assuming all government positions, we’re going to have a hard time. And frankly, that’s never going to happen. Palestinian activists hear statements they consider outrageous all the time, from high level officials who have direct authority over US policy, and have no hope of having them removed, nevermind some flunky making offensive (to them) comments in a completely unrelated field. All this purging is only ever going to go in one direction, left vs. right, and there are many fewer leftish appointees to begin with.

So..it is ok to have anti- semites in white house advisory jobs ?

Violet says:
For chrissake, opposing the Israeli occupation of the West Bank is not anti-semitism. Most people on the left think the occupation needs to end. That includes most Israelis on the left. Some of the most vociferous opponents of the occupation I’ve met are young Israelis, who use far more damning language about the Israeli government’s policies than anything you’ll hear from a Western leftist.
God almighty, are people in this country really so insulated from leftwing opinion? Next you’ll be saying that Gandhi was an anglophobe and MLK was a racist.
-
Sameol says:
Sure I Can google, it’s not really my responsibility to do so, though, as you’re the one bizarrely misinterpreting what I said. I don’t want to derail the thread, so I’ll just say let me know if you find anything.

Millions of people think Obama is a socialist.
Does that answer your question?

Tabby Lavalamp says:
I don’t think I can handle almost five minutes of Beck, so I’m not going to bother.
What I can say is it’s fascinating watching the health care “debate” down there. As a Canadian, hearing the outright lies being spread by conservatives about our system and people believing them is jaw-dropping. Thus the scare quotes around “debate”, because it’s not really a debate when one side is doing nothing but screaming and spreading disinformation.
Don’t feel bad though, America. We have our own conservatives who drool with anticipation at the thought of privatizing our system so they can make big money while cutting their taxes too, and do what they can to make the people who can least afford to go that route dissatisfied with the public system by strangling funds and spreading worst-case scenario horror stories. -
jeannie says:
Tabby, as a fellow Canadian, I think you are off topic - but I do hope our American friends have seen this very simple Canadian health care bit…
-
Tabby Lavalamp says:
Off topic, sure, but Glenn Beck is one of the people contributing to the misinformation. So it’s not like I started talking about pasta all of a sudden. :)

octogalore says:
The signifcance of Jones’ statement is his claim that the occupation began fifty-four years ago. Many liberals dispute that strongly .
-
octogalore says:
Above comment should read “his claim that the occupation began without justification fifty-four years ago.”
-
Violet says:
“his claim that the occupation began without justification fifty-four years ago.”
Where does he say this? I’ve looked at the transcript from that album, and he refers to the occupation of “54 years,” but nowhere that I can see does he say anything about how it began. Nothing. Just that it needs to end now.
Regardless, it’s not some extremist view, as I’m sure you realize. A large percentage of leftists world-wide oppose the occupation.
(Personally, I think the Arabs “started it,” but that’s another tangent. Either way, it’s a mess now and people are suffering who had nothing to do with 1948 or 1967 or 1973.)
But still — none of this has anything to do with Van Jones’s position. He was in charge of green jobs, which is an excellent position for him. He’s a star in that field — bestselling book, brilliant thinker, one of the top people around. He wasn’t hired to advise on Palestinian issues.
-
myiq2xu says:
I guess the lesson here is that if a liberal or progressive ever wants to work in government beyond a menial level they must never make any statements or advocate any positions that are the least bit radical or controversial.
(Which pretty much screws any advocates of feminism or LGBT rights)
-
Violet says:
I want somebody to make a list of the batshit extremist opinions of all the Republicans who have served in the past few administrations and in Congress, by god. Because if this is a contest in who can be more batshit, the Republicans have got that fucker sewn up.
-
myiq2xu says:
What I find amazing is the number of people on the left that accept the right-wing framing of Van Jones as a radical extremist.
This is part of the reason real liberals like Jerry Brown and Dennis Kucinich are considered “unelectable” by their own party.
The ain’t no such thing as a Republican who is “too conservative.”
-
yttik says:
I think Beck and Obama are on the same team and we are simply being fed bread and circuses.
-
gxm17 says:
Millions of people think Obama is a socialist.
This is a BIG part of the problem. “Truthers” are considered nutty and yet thinking Obama’s a socialist is somehow rational. Goofy right wing ideas (and disinformation) are accepted as “normal” when they are anything but.
-
myiq2xu says:

“The majority is always sane.” - Nessus
-
octogalore says:
The transcript states “no American would put up with an Israeli style occupation” for 54 years in the context of “violence outside US borders.” So yes, this suggests 54 years of unjustified occupation.
In any case, I didn’t state that this alone was why he stepped down or that I didn’t feel he could do a good job in the green jobs arena. I think Green for All has been very successful. But adding up the various controversies regarding events happening in the past 5-10 years, I don’t think you’d see anyone on either side of the aisle surviving that, right or wrong.
