Obama appoints anti-choice, anti-contraception godbag to HHS

By Violet Socks · Wednesday, June 10th, 2009 ·

You can read about it here or here. Am I surprised? That would be a no, Bob.

Do you suppose the fangirls have started taking down their Obama wall posters yet? Do you think the Lightning Bolt of Hypocrisy has zapped any of their brain cells? Me neither.

Edited to add: Just to make our enjoyment of this moment even more piquant, the family of the late Dr. George Tiller has announced that his clinic will be closed permanently. The plan to reduce the number of abortions in the country is working well.

    Fangirls.

    Yes.

    Unbelievable. Or, in fact, not.

And I’ll add another big surprise.

Now I’ll sit by the phone in case all those friends (not really) who accused me of selling them out by voting R check in. Or not.

All hail the sacredness of a tiny ball of cells! You know, the ball of cells that has a 20-50% of developing into a born baby. Why these people love the concept of a god that kils up to 80% of the people he creates before they’re born, I don’t understand. They must be really into that Jehovah god that has bears eat children for mocking a prophet’s bald spot.

Yeah, I do know the argument - it’s God’s will. You don’t see these same people bowing to god’s will when he sends them cancer, even though those cancer cells can be reasonably viewed as human life.

I’m thinking of a mailing campaign to the fangirls. Instead of letters or postcards, a box of coathangers. Metal ones, of course, if you can still find them. I still have a few at my place. Maybe a message: “Well, you got what you wanted, darlings. I think you’ll need these.”

I’m not surprised. Obama put anti-gay, pro-life, Tim Kaine in charge of the Democratic National Committee. And apparently he never bothered to ask Sotomayor where she stood on choice or reproductive privacy, because he didn’t feel like it was really relevant.

The plan to reduce the amount of misery, not so much.

Here’s a powerful interview by Amy Goodman of a Doctor Hern who does late-term abortions in Boulder, CO, and was a good friend of George Tiller. Now under 24-hour federal protection, Doctor Hern is pulling no punches.

Meanwhile, the House voted 403 to 0 on Tuesday to condemn Tiller’s murder. Oh good, that’s solved.
