If you vote for Obama, this is what you’re voting for (Reminder #2)

By Violet Socks · Tuesday, October 21st, 2008 ·

Obama fans demonstrate their support for their candidate:

You can buy similar shirts at Cafe Press:

So is Sarah Palin a cunt because she’s a Republican? Hardly:

If you were an active Hillary campaigner or even blog citizen this past year, you know that Obama supporters call Hillary “cunt” the way bears shit in the woods: naturally, effortlessly, regularly (unless they’ve had too many blueberries I suppose). I had to create a special twit filter just to deal with it. A number of Obama supporters built their entire blogs around the “Hillary is a cunt” concept, while others contented themselves with devoting categories to the theme. One guy, whose link I’ve now lost, called his “cuntosaurus.” Another Obama fan created a category called “Hillary is a murderous cunt.”

Murderous? Can cunts be murderous? Ah yes — that’s because of another piece of Obamamania, and this one stemming directly from campaign headquarters: the grotesque smear that Hillary said she was staying in the race in case The Precious was assassinated. That lie from the Obama campaign sticks with me as perhaps the single most cynical piece of political skullduggery I’ve ever seen. But I’ll save that for another reminder.

I hope the parents of those kids in the first picture are proud of their spawn.

I would slap the shit out of one of my kids who wore a shirt like that.

My grandmamma used to say, “Class will tell.”

  3. Mary Catherine says:

The women in that first photograph really freakin’ seriously freak me out. What self-respecting woman would agree to wear, much less agree to be photographed whilst wearing, that horrifically obnoxious, not to mention shockingly dumb-arsely stupid, t-shirt?!

Look, women of the C**T t-shirt meme, I’m not asking you to actively support, nor vote for, a female candidate from across the aisle, a female candidate with whom you do not agree on the major issues. But okay, fine, don’t support her, don’t vote for her, fair enough, but at least do make it about the issues. However, once you’ve agreed to C***T as a meme, you’ve gone way beyond the issues, I’m afraid. What?! are we back in Salem or just what? ‘Kill the witch! Kill the witch!’ Creepy groupthink dynamic, creeps me out especially when it’s women hissing and booing at other women. There’s just no percentage there, darlings, just no percentage at all.

I guess there’s more than enough misogyny in the world produced by men, without women volunteering to fill in the gaps with insider information and what-not. God.

  4. m Andrea says:

If I were evil, and running for president, and my campaign was based upon encouraging hatred of women, and moreover looked possibe to win; this time next week I’d be throwing those bitches a bone, and some flowers, and croon sweet nothings in their ear.

I would denounce all that unfortunate sexism, none of which was my fault doncha know! — and quite tenderly and with loving kindness remind everyone cough, women, cough of the benefits of cooperation and working together.

If I were evil, and running for president, my upcoming grrrl power spiel would rock your world. But meanwhile, back at the batcave, my minions are feeling empowered…

Any day now, I expect a group of Obamabots to rape a woman for real, and of course they will be chanting Obama slogans as they rape her. They will be so proud of their actions, and so justified in their belief that rape of McPallin supporters is valid, that they will videotape the whole thing and submit it to YouTube. Other Obamabots will post messages gleefully defending the gang rape of a McPalin supporter and insist that feminists are humorless.

  5. Beth H. says:

Why is this (blogs) the only place (ie: not the mainstream media) where I am seeing these T-shirts. Of course the bear that was killed and draped in an Obama/Biden flag was all over the TV. I guess I am supposed to assume that Gov. Palin shot the bear and did the draping!? I have so many female Obama supporter friends that I have almost given up engaging them in debate.

  6. Kat says:

they will videotape the whole thing and submit it to YouTube.

Clockwork Orange. That’s what they remind me of, A Clockwork Orange. Those t-shirts, the Tate video, the graphic of Palin getting punched, stone her!, the Slate magazine piece, the Jezebel “feminist” fantasies about beating the bitch to death: that’s the same fundamental loss of humanity, encouraged by the groupthink culture of violence.

  7. Kiuku says:

We will not let them forget about this.

  8. Tergeist says:

And if you vote for McCain, you just voted yourselves back 200 years.

    Eleanor Smeal

  9. Violet says:

Gawd, more foolishness from Ellie Smeal. She has become such an embarrassment. Absolute silence from her when Hillary was attacked, more silence from her when Palin is attacked in even more misogynistic fashion.

  10. Kiuku says:

Feminists for Obama..You’ve got to be kidding me.

Too bad if it was a joke that would have been funny.

Go to hell Liberal men. So-called.

    Heh. I can only imagine.

  16. simply wondered says:

mary catherine, you are not alone in saying it, but i can’t think of a more exact equation than the way you put it: cunt as insult = burn the witch. same old woman-hating bile. i don’t think the word evil is too strong for this kind of position.

i’m just glad i’m not american and don’t have the holy trinity of choices: three in none.

mccain and palin - same old crap from old and younger and better-looking sidekick. nice christian hate on the side.
obama and biden - lovely shiny new crap from better looking and old sidekick. nice christian hate on the side.
independents - who knows their name and they haven’t a cat in hell’s chance however good their stance.

we’re lucky it’s not like this in england home of democracy ….
    hang on!

maybe the new agenda and ideas like that, which find their values across party lines, are the only way forward in this corrupt and patriarchal political system.

Amen to this. Even if I had no other reason to refuse to vote for Obama, this incident would do it. This was what got me started commenting actively on blogs - I was horrified at how even bloggers I considered reasonable and not anti-HRC simply bought all the viciousness stirred up about this incident.

I imagine you’ve got your own file about this incident, but if not I’ve got a timeline of the whole thing you might find useful including the fact that George Stephanopoulos (bless his heart) was one of the very few media people who called the Obama campaign on their involvement. Needless to say, his attempts to hold them accountable sank without a trace:

I’ll look forward to your comments on this.

  18. Violet says:

Even if I had no other reason to refuse to vote for Obama, this incident would do it.

Me too. That was the point of no return for me. It was so cynical in so many ways. After that there was never any chance I would ever vote for Obama.

And the lies continue to be told, and continue to be believed. Just today I was reading a nice little Episcopalian blog and one of the commenters said, “so, what about these awful hate rallies the McCain/Palin team is holding? It’s like the Nuremburg rallies!”

    What the hell?

Yeah, we got some Nuremburg-type shit going on all right, but not the way that clown thinks.

  19. Kat says:

Even if I had no other reason to refuse to vote for Obama, this incident would do it.

You know, me and SO were talking last night, and he said that the point of no return for him was the FISA vote. That’s the point he know he could never trust, support, or vote for Obama, and couldn’t change his mind. I thought about that and said, nope, for me, it was the RFK assassination smear. That was so low and so heinous, I think I’ll look back on it for many elections to come as a low.

I’m glad I’m not alone in not being able to shake that one. It sums up the whole dirty thing for me.

  20. Kat says:

Oh — and Elise, that link you posted was excellent — for anyone who can stomach the walk down memory lane, it’s very enlightening to see it laid out.

    http://firebrandblog.blogspot......rabia.html

I’d forgotten how the Obama camp sent Olbermann’s special comment out to the press.

  21. Kiuku says:

Olbermann is on my “Big penis list” (not that they have a big penis just that they are just one big penis) along with Plotz and Perrotta and Maher.

The Big Penis List will have its debut on my new site.

Obama told his supporters to get in the faces of his opponents, this is what happens when you foster an environment that dehumanizes women as c**ts.

And meanwhile all Reuters can write about is the alleged racism in the election:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/200.....itics_hate

Carey Gillam who wrote this article can be contacted at: Carey.Gillam@reuters.com, perhaps she can explain the news value decision that highlights marginal racism (and all racism is wrong), but ignores rampant sexism.

  25. Elise says:

Kat - I felt the same way, thought I was the only one who was haunted by the RFK/June issue. That’s why I was so struck by seeing Dr. Socks refer to it. And I’m glad you found the link worthwhile. To tell you the truth I hadn’t re-read it since I wrote it until now. Remembering all that tends to make me froth at the mouth.

As for the Carey Gillam article that hypes racism and ignores sexism, Reuters is British-based. It’s really not reasonable to expect a nation that recently embraced sharia to give a darn about sexism.
