The company you keep

Read the comments on this piece. These are the Obamabots in all their glory.

When have I seen such hatred and bigotry and sheer dishonesty? Free Republic comes to mind. Little Green Footballs.

If this were an isolated display, it would mean nothing. But this is how Obamabots have been talking about Hillary and her supporters throughout this campaign. Actually this is pretty mild.

If this is the new Democratic party, count me out.

Edited to add: Seeing this post juxtaposed with the picture down there of Saint Barack, I’m reminded again — forcefully — of how much the Obama movement resembles fundamentalist Christianity. Fundies always claim that theirs is the religion of love. Just like Jeebus, who loved all the little children. The Prince of Peace! And yet fundies are some of the most vicious people I’ve ever met, chock full of raging hatred for anybody in their way.

They’re a lot like those men who are completely, utterly taken aback when their wives ask for a divorce. Even when the wives have been telling them for years how unhappy they are.

I went to the cnn web site and read some of really hateful comments. I do not hate Sen Obama, nor do even dislike him. He seems to be a good person, but in my opuinion not ready for prime time. There is rampant chat that the black vote would stay home if Sen Obama is denied the nomination. If the hate speech on their side is not toned down then millions of women on all colors might choose the same in Nov

I tried to e-mail Dr. Socks at but the e-mail bounced back. Anyway, my NEW VIDEO: “We’ve Come a Long Way, Baby!” is about Obama’s silence on sexism against Hillary Clinton and his own sexist remarks.

I am so angry and distressed at those supposed liberal comments. I don’t know where to put my rage. Even here in the Uk we have crappy news articles suggesting that HRC should just step down blah blah blah. The hatred of women is tangible. How is it possible that we can be so loathed and not be rising up and fighting back?

I thought I’d found a great new blog to follow, and you are certainly spot-on about the hypocrisy of many Christians. But in a post about hateful and bigoted language, was it so hard to just write “Jesus” instead of “Jeebus”? Not all feminists/liberals are atheists. Some are actually Christians who *do* love their neighbors as themselves.

I almost always say Jeebus when I’m referring to fundies precisely because I think they make a mockery of Jesus’s life and teachings. The “Jeebus” they worship is their own creation, and bears little resemblance to the real man.

Thanks for the clarification. I didn’t realize the use of “Jeebus” was directly connected to the mention of fundamentalists.
