Hillary Clinton: the only Democrat still in the race

By · Sunday, April 27th, 2008 · 17 Comments »

I propose a Clockwork Orange-style intervention for all those deluded Obama supporters who still think Barry gives a rat’s ass about any Democratic values. A chair, some restraints, whatever those things are that keep the eyelids propped up, saline drops so the eyeballs won’t dry out. And we’ll force them to read this.

Think it’ll work? Or is there no hope?

  1. No Blood for Hubris says:

Barry keeps saying nice things about Reagan.

  2. Lost Clown says:

Well they both have the same campaign: *HOPE HOPE HOPE*

  3. Red Queen says:

So he’s for both corporate deregulation and tort reform. Now you can have your ecoli spinach and not be able to sue for too.

  4. Lost Clown says:

Because deregulation worked so well for Bear Stearns.

  5. octogalore says:

Hmmm. Love how he forgets to mention he narrowly avoided being a Roberts supporter himself. Even now, he seems to think defending people who are Roberts supporters is a positive move for a so-called progressive candidate.

Unfortunately, I don’t think many of Barry’s supporters are going to look at the link and see more than LALALALALALALA.

  6. Paul Tergeist says:

No political party ‘stands’ for anything anymore.

Obama will win because no one wants Bill back in the White house. Bush-Clinton-Bush…Clinton? Even I can see a pattern developing. Hillary-Jeb-Chelsea. Sorry. Not while any of us Baby Boomers who remember the Constitution and the intent of the framers are still alive. And by that time the oil and water will be gone anyway.

The polls are kinked because, apart from the millions of voters who switched parties to vote for Obama, a full 27% of us are registered Independent/Green/Libertarian. We didn’t vote in the primaries because we never vote ‘for’. We always vote ‘against’ the most repugnant candidate. In the Obama/McCain race McCain will be blown out. And, starting today, the superdelegates are going to start backing Obama at a faster pace.

After Obama, the country will wake up and discover that women and minorities are not inferior. Hell, we are only a hundred years or so behind.

I sincerely hope Obama picks Samantha Power for Secretary of State. I’d rather she were Vice-President, but that would be too much for the illiterate misogynistic racists who get to vote even if they can’t sign their names.

  7. Paul Tergeist says:

    It’s a lost cause.

Hillary wouldn’t dare try to put Bush and all his cronies on trial for war crimes. Obama won’t succeed, but he might try. If he doesn’t, the world will pull the rug right out from under the dollar and we will see $10 gasoline just for starters.

  8. Violet says:

Obama won’t succeed, but he might try.

What on earth makes you think he might try?

In case you need to review his record on the war:

    Corrente

  9. Violet says:

Paul, you’re dreaming. Obama is a Republican in everything but name. If he becomes the nominee and wins the election, the Democratic party will have completed its transformation to GOP version 2.0. Obama opposes universal health care, thinks privatizing Social Security is a fine idea, endorses the Republican approach to the environment, and plans to build up the military. And he thinks arch-conservative anti-feminists like John Roberts are “brilliant” and he has “no problem” with people who want to deny women control over their own bodies.

His campaign has been bolstered by a climate of virulent misogyny which he himself has subtly (or not so subtly) encouraged. If he becomes the nominee it will mean that misogyny pays, that a woman can run for President and be vilified as a “c – - t” and it’s just fine.

If the Obamabot contingent takes over the Democratic party, then the women of America will need to start a third party. That’s all there is to it. The Democrats will have sold us down the river for the last time.

  10. gmanedit says:

I am so looking forward to voting for President Chelsea!

  11. Lost Clown says:

    gmanedit:

ME TOO! She’s amazing in person!

  12. CognitiveDissonance says:

I think the writing is on the wall for Obama. With the latest Rev. Wright antics today, even his normal media cheerleaders are negative. This guy is toxic, and I’m not even factoring in Rezko, which will only get worse as the trial progresses, Bill Ayres, and his other terrorist connections. There is so much material here that the Republicans are no doubt in hysterical glee. They’ll have so many 527′s running non-stop that even Obama’s supporters will get sick of him. Frankly, I don’t see any way he could possibly win a general election with all this baggage. Far less has sunk dems in the past.

And I agree with Violet. Any dem that goes out of his way to praise Reagan and smear the only two-term democratic president of my lifetime is NOT a real democrat. NOR is one who runs Harry and Louise ads, or seriously discusses school vouchers or other wingnut ideas to cut public school funding. If he somehow manages to steal this nomination, I’ll personally give money to McCain and volunteer for his campaign. And I’ve been a democrat for 37 years who has NEVER voted for a republican – not even for dog catcher. I know many other Clinton supporters who feel the same way. (The exit polls in PA had around 50% who wouldn’t vote for Obama).

  13. Carmonn says:

Yeah Paul, I don’t care about stinking health care, and I’d rather elect someone who cares as little about policy as Bush than a wonk. Better someone with a different name than someone with the same name but a different relationship to policy expertise, that’s just common sense. The Constitutional Framers were famous for their saying, “Learning stuff is wicked boring. And electing two members of the same family is just exactly the same thing as having a monarchy. We should have outlawed it! We didn’t mind Adams’ son so much, and anybody’s else son won’t be that big a deal, but what if the illiterate masses who shouldn’t be allowed to vote get it in their heads one to day to let bitchez run? Oh noes! That is totally imperial. That would be the last straw. Grab the last person with a penis to walk through the door of the Senate and hope for the best.”

Outside of the local Coffee Collective, just about everybody wishes Bill were back in, because we were better off when he was. It’s amazing how much more important policy becomes when you’re not upper class and you really depend on it, because you won’t just be fine either way. Also amazing how watching the first major female candidate ever get savaged while her opponent who is pretty much identical-to-worse on everything is lionized on the basis of pure fantasy doesn’t look like a great advance for women. How is Obama going to teach us that women are not inferior–because we’d be so sick of him by the end of his admin that the contempt he shows women would be discredited too? And it’s sure amazing how easy it will be to replace women and working class voters who are absolutely crucial to the Democrats’ success with a silent majority of Independents and greens. I wouldn’t have predicted it would be that easy, specially since your highly motivated, numerically unassailable bloc’s strategy of voting against the most repugnant candidate seems to have been on he fritz lately. Your vast numbers hated Gore that much?

  14. octogalore says:

Paul — Obama’s campaign staff is only 20% women . Clinton has a majority of women on her staff. Even McCain has more women on his staff. How, again, is Obama going to help “the country will wake up and discover that women …are not inferior”?

  15. Paul Tergeist says:

    “Paul, you’re dreaming.”

    Nothing new there.

“Obama is a Republican in everything but name. If he becomes the nominee and wins the election, the Democratic party will have completed its transformation to GOP version 2.0. I can go farther than that. I am a rabid Scecond Amendmenter. I am licensed to carry a concealed irearm in all fifty states and I am licensed and certified bu the state of Utah to teach a course, anywhere, anytime, that will allow a person with no felony convictions to obtain a permit to CCW in 35 states by simply sending in the form I give them, a set of fingerprints, and two passport photos. Obama is anti-gun. He will reinstate the Clinton gun ban and everyone knows it. I am an NRA Life Instructor. The NRA and the Second Amendment foundation are solidly against Obama. But I’m for him. Because he isn’t just another stupid political hack. He can think and he is black. If that doesn’t start Wmerica back on track you certainly don’t think another Bill and Hillary term will, do you? I am voting for change and we better get some goddamn change, or we are going to have another American Revolution. I think the Democratic party ought to be split into two parties and the Republicans disbanded. I’d like to see ANYONE who actually understands what the human race is doing to the earth run for office. I’d like to see women rise up in revolt. But Hillary isn’t the person to lead us anywhere. Ron Paul, maybe. But the deciding factor is that Obama is black. That WILL change a hell of a lot of dynamics that have been in place for two hundred years. Re-electing a Bill Clinton surrogate won’t.

The Bushes have made America into a Banana Republic, enabled by Bill Clinton. The country now has the economic profile of a Latin American country. The disparity in wealth grows each day with the crony capitalism. The Bill of Rights has been abolished. Habeas corpus and posse comitatus are gone. Torture is legal – or semi-legal. It is being done regularly. The economy is in the worst shape since 1931. There are junk bonds and over-leveraged securities and under -the-counter equities internationally Derivatives of up to 700 trillion. Even hanging the traitors in the streets won’t settle our moral and monetary debt.

“If the Obamabot contingent takes over the Democratic party, then the women of America will need to start a third party. That’s all there is to it. The Democrats will have sold us down the river for the last time.”

Yep, and I’ll be right with you. But I will never be registered as anything but Independent.

    Ugh.
