I saw this on The Daily Show, but not on any of the news programs. Can you imagine what the reaction would have been, if say, one of the Democratic Presidential candidates had said something so stupid?
Does our media protect Bush or are they so used to his verbal blunders they just don’t see them as newsworthy anymore?

Oh, I have no doubt the media protects Bush. Our media tilts profoundly right and has for decades now. Yes, if a Democratic candidate said Mandela was dead, his or her candidacy would be over. All the explanations in the world about how “Mandela” was intended as an object noun, not an actual reference to the widely beloved human being Nelson Mandela, would, you know, not work.

FWIW, Countdown With Keith Olbermann aired the story. Can’t remember if that was the same night as his most recent “Special Comment” broadcast (see: Olbermann to Bush: ‘Your hypocrisy is so vast’) - this last week’s news is all a bit of a blur.
