Friday Link Roundup

Busy, busy, busy. I promised a post on the evolution of Islam and it’s coming — I promise! — but I’ve gotten temporarily sidetracked with actually living my life. So, in the meantime, here are my favorite blogosphere items from the past couple of days:

File this under the “global feminist conspiracy that rules the world”: Rox Populi links to a Village Voice article about how Kurdish women are committing suicide because of their oppression and mistreatment at the hands of men.

And in case you’re one of those folks who thinks sexism is no longer a problem in the West, Feministe brings us news that a Russian politician claims Condi Rice’s Russian policy is driven by her lack of attention from men, and all she really needs is a good “seeing-to.” Preferably from an entire company of soldiers.

Peter Daou’s essay on Progressive Bloggers in the Wilderness is an excellent analysis of the disconnect between liberal bloggers and the politicians in Washington.

Jane Hamsher at firedoglake gives us a neat play-by-play of how the BushCo propaganda machine has controlled the Alito coverage.
